Save the Date: AERD Awareness Day 9-26-18
Updated: Aug 31, 2018
The Samter’s Society is organizing the first ever Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD) Awareness Day on September 26th, 2018. We hope to make this an annual event.
We have some exciting things planned for our first awareness day, including:
An AERD Awareness Day t-shirt sale through Bonfire. Proceeds will be donated to three of the groups researching AERD – The Brigham & Women’s AERD Center, Scripps Clinic, and the Penn Medicine AERD Center. We plan to make the shirts available the first week of September, so that people can receive them before 9/26/18.
A Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for AERD research will launch on 9/26/18. Proceeds will be equally split between the AERD research centers above. We’ve set an ambitious goal for this fundraising campaign, but we believe it can be attainable with the help of the patient community. Get ready to share your AERD story with your friends, family, and co-workers and ask them to help support AERD research.
Social media campaign. If you aren’t already, please follow Samter’s Society on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We are working on graphics, posters, and fact sheets to share on AERD Awareness day and we need your help to spread the word! #AERDawareness
In addition, we hope to be able to announce the addition of some exciting new resources for patients, including an AERD Fact Sheet designed by Allergy & Asthma Network, the launch of an AERD Toolkit on the Allergy & Asthma Network website, and a “Guide for Doctors” written by Dr. Tanya Laidlaw and Dr. Andrew White.
If you want to get more involved in helping with AERD Awareness Day efforts, there’s still time to do so. We could use the assistance of anyone with art or graphic design skills to create additional social media graphics. If you have something you’d like to contribute, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or get involved in the discussion in our Facebook Group.
Mark your calendar for September 26th! We need everyone in the patient community involved to make the first AERD Awareness Day a success.
